Garden Guild

If you’re one of the lucky people born with a green thumb (or wish you could be), consider joining our Garden Guild. This group works around the church grounds to maintain and beautify the campus. You will see them in the Memorial Garden trimming shrubs or pulling weeds as well as planting flowers in the old fountain near the church porch or tending the pots beside the lobby doors. They do their work without fanfare, finding peace in the quiet of nature. Obviously, the garden tasks change throughout the seasons, but there is always something that needs to be done to keep the place looking good. For example, the biggest chore in the summer months is watering -- we certainly couldn’t have beautiful grass and plants without water during an Alabama summer. It can take as much or as little time as you are willing to invest, and the “gardeners” would be thrilled to have an extra set of hands anytime. For more information about the Garden Guild, contact Ken Rains or Miriam Shannon.

Flower Guild

The Flower Guild is responsible for arranging the lovely flowers used behind the altar on Sundays. Flowers are delivered to the church on Saturday, and our talented arrangers come in and work their magic so that the altar looks beautiful each week. Since altar flowers are given in memory of or thanksgiving for individuals, it is important to the Guild members to make the flowers look special and give them meaning. If you have a talent for arranging flowers or just a good eye for design and you would like to learn more, please consider joining this group. You can contact Glenda Miles for more information.
